Mother and Child, by Raja Rami Varma

When surrounded by a number of objects –

perceive a single object –

then gradually withdraw consciousness

from the objective field.

You

are wonderfully

at peace.

Note:

Verse 122.

Mother and Child, Jaimini Roy

Lost to the world,

motherly attentiveness can be total.

The encircling arm of a friend,

the enveloping mountain range,

the overhanging branch –

as if void

of existence.

Mother and Child, by B. Prabha

In The Yoga of Wonder, Delight, and Astonishment, Jaideva Singh's translation is similar:

Oh goddess, if one, after casting one's gaze on some object, withdraws it and slowly eliminates the knowledge of that object along with the thought and impression of it, she abides in the void.   [I took the liberty of using the feminine pronoun.]

Swami Lakshmanjoo's commentary in the The Manual of Self Realization offers another viewpoint.
