meditation 2
The energy of breath
flows in
and
out.
Remain aware of the interval
outside
and inside.
Divine manifests.
Notes:
This technique is significantly more refined than that of Meditation 1.
(Rather than the word interval, used here, in the Manual for Self Realization, Swamiji prefers the word void.)
He emphasizes in this technique that because the awareness remains on the two voids between breaths, awareness has no object.
Swamiji emphasizes maintaining awareness in the two voids between breaths and further notes that this dhāraṇā, requiring awareness only (rather than mantra and breath as objects), is śāktopāya.
Importantly, Jaideva Singh notes that when awareness remains in the "pause" [void] between breaths, spontaneously an upsurge in the central channel occurs.
In this manner, the location of the central channel announces itself in its own time and of its own accord, by simply appearing whenever the "two" voids abide as one.
